- How strong is the center pivot bolt? The main pivot bolt with grease zerk, or center pivot bolt, used on the shocker air bumper hitch, is a custom made 1 inch diameter 1045 medium carbon steel bolt. Strategically heat treated to prevent wear, and includes a machined grease passage for easy lubrication and maintenance. It should be noted that the yield strength of the 1″ pivot bolt exceeds the two 5/8″ bolts used to hold the typical ball coupler or receiver hitch.

The Part is Great, But the Customer leaves a lot to be Desired. I called and asked about this part at the same time I was buying a new Airbag receiver hitch and some replacement pucks for a goose neck air hitch we have. I was originally told she would have to ask a supervisor if I was able to purchase the bolt (I heard him in the background Say NO, but she would check with the warehouse guys. then after several days of waiting for a return call. I called again and was told No they don’t offer the bolt but that I could check my local Hardware store. So that night Not believing I couldn’t obtain this part (it’s not super rare part, but your local Home Depot is not gonna have this part) I found it listed on the website, a little difficult to find on the website but it was there. So I ordered it and a few days later got it no problems. About a week after that I got a email from the customer Service Rep asking if I would send a picture of the hitch I want the bolt for? She didn’t think she could sell me the part but that she was still working on it. She was a nice Lady, tried to be helpful, BUT the Supervisor common he should know what’s going on or at least take the few extra steps to get the correct information. It had me so angry I was ready to stop using/buying the products. But we do have 4 airbag hitch’s and love them all, like anything there is some basic Maintenance that needs to be done, there are some parts that will wear out and need to be replaced but over all great product/s
