Installing a Standard Gooseneck Coupler
Take measurement of current coupler from the bottom of the outer sleeve to the bottom of
the coupler – transfer measurement to Shocker Hitch (non-air) stem & coupler.
Remove existing coupler by loosen jam-nuts/stem bolts and removing safety pin (if applicable)
Take Shocker Hitch (non-air) stem & coupler and slide it into desired hole or match it to
measurement you took earlier, secure with safety pin and tighten set-bolts to trailer factory
specification or 125 ft. lbs.
NOTE: Be sure that the coupler is straight or parallel with the trailer, for offsets, be sure stem is NOT “crooked” or
“cockeyed”.
INSTALLING TOP CRANK STEM
Remove 3/8“ bolt & upper crank handle assembly. Loosen set bolts & remove existing coupler.
Transfer bearing & 3/8” washer to Shocker Hitch stem.
Grease stem threads, slide into trailer until engaged, tighten set screws, and add 3/8“ washer
to exposed crank stem.
Re-install crank handle with 3/8” bolt before vehicle hook-up. Hook up trailer & adjust coupler
to level trailer.
NOTE: Bulldog brand couplers require additional 3/8“ washer (supplied with Shocker Hitch).
Tighten set-bolts to trailer factory specification or 125 ft. lbs.
USING SHOCKER SHIFT LOCK COUPLER
Move handle to unlocked position, lower trailer onto ball (see Figure 1).
Lock coupler by moving Shift Lock handle forward. The u-bolt should stick out 1” from coupler
rear when locked (see Figure 2). If you do NOT see this, repeat until u-bolt is visible from rear of
coupler.
To release coupler from ball, remove safety pin on Shift Lock handle and slide handle
“backward”, re-install safety pin, and crank trailer up off ball.
USING EZ LATCH COUPLER
Lower trailer onto ball, as you lower, the EZ Latch handle will start to lift. (see Figure 3).
The coupler will fully lock when the EZ Latch handle will “snap” back into it’s original position
(see Figure 4).
To release coupler from ball, ip EZ Latch handle “upward” where it will rest and crank trailer up off ball. Flip handle back down when ready for next hook-up.
SAFETY NOTICE
Towing capacity is limited by the lowest component. Always keep the area around the
gooseneck hitch clear when attached to tow vehicle. Use only a 2-5/16” gooseneck ball for
2-5/16” coupler and use only 3” gooseneck ball of 3” coupler. V-19 rated. Do not exceed G.V.W.R
of ball being used.
ALWAYS use safety chains
