Shocker 20K HD Max Super Drop Air Hitches

The 20K HD Max series is built for taller or lifted pickup trucks; it combines adjustable air ride with a 12-hole frame and up to 12-1/2 inches of drop, depending on the mount. Super Drop needs at least 22 inches from the ground to the bottom of your receiver; if your truck measures less, the HD Max Series is usually a better fit. Available for 2-inch and 2.5-inch receivers, with hitch ratings up to 20,000 lbs GTW and 2,000 lbs tongue weight. Browse the mounts below to match your trailer connection; capacity and drop/rise vary by configuration.

Who the Super Drop Series is for

Super Drop is the 20K HD Max Black hitch with a longer frame, built for pickups that sit too high for a standard drop. If your receiver is way above the trailer coupler and the trailer tips nose-up when you hook on, this is the Series to look at. Customers use it on:

  • Lifted half-ton pickups: An F-150, Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500, Ram 1500, or Tundra with a leveling kit, a suspension lift, or bigger tires often needs more drop than a regular hitch can give.
  • 3/4-ton and 1-ton 4×4 trucks: F-250 and F-350 Super Duty, Ram 2500 and 3500, and Silverado or Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD pickups can sit tall even from the factory, and more so with a lift or when the bed is empty.
  • Tall work trucks: F-450 and F-550 chassis trucks and service bodies that pull low equipment trailers, car haulers, or pintle trailers.

Measure before you order: Super Drop needs at least 22 inches from the ground to the bottom of your truck’s receiver tube. If your truck measures less, the 8-Hole HD Max Series is usually a better fit. The drop-ball mount gives up to 12-1/2" of drop, and the combo-ball mount gives up to 8-1/2". Check the drop/rise guide on each product page for your exact mount.

Super Drop vs standard HD Max

Both Series share the same 20,000 lbs GTW and 2,000 lbs tongue weight hitch rating, the heavy-duty air spring, and the matte-black finish. The difference is how low they reach:

Super Drop 8-Hole HD Max
Frame 12 adjustment holes 8 adjustment holes
Drop-ball mount 4-1/2" to 12-1/2" drop 4-1/2" to 8-1/2" drop
Combo-ball mount 0" to 8-1/2" drop 0" to 4-1/2" drop
Raised mount 2" rise to 6" drop 2" rise to 2" drop
Best for Lifted or tall trucks with 22"+ to the receiver Stock and slightly taller pickups

Both Series come in 2-inch and 2.5-inch receiver sizes. If a standard hitch already gets your trailer level, you don’t need Super Drop.

Pick the right mount for the job.

  • Pintle hook: The Super Drop Air Pintle Hitch is for lunette-ring trailers. Choose 0 to 9" of drop or 3" to 11" of drop.
  • Pintle and ball: The Super Drop Hitch with Pintle & Ball pairs an 8-ton pintle hook with a 2" or 2-5/16" ball (3" to 11" of drop), so you can switch between a pintle ring and a ball coupler.
  • Drawbar and clevis: The Drawbar and Cushion Drawbar hitches (up to 8-1/2" of drop, 1" hole) and the Clevis hitch (3-1/2" to 11-1/2" of drop, 1-1/4" holes) handle wagons, carts, and implements with a pin hitch.
  • Ball mounts: Choose the drop mount, raised mount, or combo ball with both 2" and 2-5/16" balls, using the ranges in the table above.

Farm Mount Towing Kit

The Super Drop Hitch Farm Mount Towing Kit includes the Super Drop air hitch, a combo ball mount with 2" and 2-5/16" balls, a channel pintle hook, a drawbar, a clevis mount, and three mount pins. Pull a pin and swap mounts when you change trailers.

Sway control options

For campers and long trailers that get pushed around by crosswinds or passing semis, choose a Super Drop hitch with a sway-tab combo ball, drop ball, or raised mount. The tabs accept a friction sway bar, so you can add sway control without giving up the extra drop.

Adjust the air ride for your trailer.

The air spring and pivoting frame help absorb towing jolts. Follow the air receiver installation guide and model-specific air-pressure instructions when setting up or changing the load. These air receiver hitches are not for use with a weight-distribution hitch system; ask our team about the appropriate Air Equalizer setup if you use weight distribution.
